Community Guidelines

WeRentr. is powered by honest, authentic, first-hand experiences. These Guidelines explain how to participate responsibly, what is not allowed, and how we moderate content and enforce our standards.

1.Our Community Values

WeRentr. exists to help people make better housing decisions through honest reviews, authentic experiences, and helpful community insights. Our community works because contributors act with integrity, treat one another with respect, and share genuine, first-hand information. These Guidelines apply to all content and conduct on the Platform and supplement our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

2.Respectful Participation

Engage constructively and treat others with respect, even in disagreement. Criticism of a property or experience is welcome; attacks on people are not. Keep contributions civil, relevant, and free of harassment, hate, or threats.

3.Honest Reviews

Reviews and ratings must reflect your genuine opinion and honest assessment. Do not exaggerate, fabricate, or misrepresent facts. If you have a conflict of interest (for example, you are connected to the property, owner, or a competitor), you must disclose it — or refrain from reviewing.

4.Authentic Experiences

Reviews must be based on a real, first-hand experience. Do not post about properties or experiences you have not genuinely had. Authenticity is the foundation of trust on WeRentr.

5.Review Quality Standards

Helpful reviews are specific, relevant, and fair. To keep contributions useful:

  • Focus on your direct experience and observations;
  • Provide context and detail rather than vague claims;
  • Separate facts from opinions;
  • Avoid irrelevant content, promotional material, or off-topic commentary;
  • Keep language respectful and free of slurs or abuse.

6.Responsible Content Sharing

Only share content you have the right to share. Do not post confidential, private, or proprietary information, and do not upload material that infringes intellectual-property rights. Be mindful that public content may be widely visible and indexed by search engines.

7.Property Photo Standards

Photos help the community, but they must be honest and lawful:

  • Upload only photos you took or have the right to use;
  • Photos must accurately represent the property or experience;
  • Do not upload deceptive, staged-to-mislead, or maliciously edited photos;
  • Do not include images that reveal others’ private information or violate their privacy;
  • No explicit, violent, or otherwise prohibited imagery.

8.Community Safety

Safety comes first. Do not post threats, incitement, or content that promotes violence or harm. Do not use the Platform to intimidate, stalk, or endanger anyone. We may take action, including escalation to authorities, where there is a credible risk to safety.

9.Respect for Privacy

Respect the privacy of others. Do not publish personal information, private contact details, or private documents (including lease documents) belonging to others, and do not engage in doxxing. Reviews should address experiences and properties, not expose individuals’ private lives.

10.Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on WeRentr.:

10.1Review & Rating Manipulation

  • Fake reviews;
  • Paid reviews without clear disclosure;
  • Review exchanges (“you review me, I review you”);
  • Review manipulation and rating manipulation;
  • Review farming and coordinated inauthentic activity;
  • Using multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or reviews.

10.2Deceptive & Harmful Content

  • Spam and repetitive or irrelevant posting;
  • Misleading content;
  • Defamation and false accusations;
  • Uploading deceptive property photos or edited photos intended to mislead users.

10.3Abuse & Harm to People

  • Personal attacks;
  • Harassment;
  • Hate speech;
  • Threats;
  • Violence or incitement to violence;
  • Doxxing;
  • Publishing personal information;
  • Sharing private contact details;
  • Sharing private lease documents.

10.4Rights, Identity & Integrity Violations

  • Copyright infringement;
  • Trademark infringement;
  • Impersonation of any person or entity;
  • Fraudulent activity;
  • Illegal activity of any kind.

11.AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Content

You may use AI tools to help draft content, but you remain fully responsible for everything you submit. AI-assisted reviews must still reflect a genuine, first-hand experience and be accurate. Do not use AI to fabricate experiences, generate fake reviews at scale, or produce misleading content. Disclose AI assistance where it could otherwise mislead readers or where required by law.

12.Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these Guidelines, please report it using the in-product reporting tools or by contacting abuse@werentr.com. Reports help us keep the community safe and trustworthy. We review reports and take appropriate action; we may not always be able to share the outcome of a specific report.

13.Content Moderation

We use a combination of automated systems and human review to detect, evaluate, and act on content that may violate these Guidelines. Moderation may include filtering, labeling, reducing visibility, or removing content. We aim to apply our standards consistently and fairly, but moderation decisions are made at our discretion.

14.Enforcement Actions

To protect the community and platform integrity, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • Remove content at its sole discretion;
  • Restrict or reduce the visibility of content;
  • Suspend accounts;
  • Permanently ban accounts;
  • Investigate suspicious activity;
  • Preserve evidence and platform integrity; and
  • Cooperate with law enforcement when legally required.

The action we take depends on the severity, context, and history of violations. Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate and permanent removal from the Platform.

15.Appeals Process

If you believe a moderation or enforcement decision was made in error, you may appeal by contacting appeals@werentr.com with relevant details. We will review eligible appeals and respond within a reasonable time. Appeal outcomes are final at our discretion, subject to any rights you may have under applicable law.

16.Trusted Contributor Expectations

Contributors who consistently provide honest, high-quality, and helpful content help the entire community. Where WeRentr. offers recognition, badges, or trusted-contributor status, such status is a privilege granted at our discretion and may be modified or revoked if our standards are not maintained. Trusted contributors are expected to uphold the highest standards of authenticity and integrity.

17.Platform Integrity

We are committed to protecting the integrity of reviews, ratings, and community insights. We may use verification, fraud-detection, and anti-manipulation systems, and we may take action against any attempt to deceive the community or undermine trust. These Guidelines apply equally to current features and to future offerings such as landlord and property-manager tools, service-provider directories, business listings, and community forums.

18.Updates to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect new features, community needs, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued participation after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.
