Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how WeRentr. collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your personal information when you use our property reviews, ratings, discovery, and community platform.

Effective date: 4 June 2026 Last updated: 11 July 2026 Version: 1.3

1.Introduction

WeRentr. is a community-driven platform for property reviews, ratings, discovery, and insights, operated by Rentr Inc., the parent company behind rentr.ph (doing business as “WeRentr.”; references to “WeRentr.,” “we,” “us,” or “our” in this Policy mean Rentr Inc.). This Privacy Policy applies to the WeRentr. website at werentr.com and our related mobile applications and services (collectively, the “Platform”), where users discover properties, read and write reviews, share experiences, provide ratings, upload photos, and access property-related insights contributed by other users.

Important — what WeRentr. is and is not

WeRentr. is a review, rating, discovery, and community platform. WeRentr. is not a rental marketplace, does not facilitate rental transactions, does not collect rent payments, and does not act as a real estate broker, agent, landlord, property manager, or leasing company.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly and transparently. This Privacy Policy describes our practices in connection with information we collect through the Platform and explains your rights and choices. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

This Policy is designed to align with major data protection and privacy frameworks worldwide, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, and other internationally accepted privacy standards.

3.Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the Platform, and information from third-party sources.

3.1Information Users Provide

We collect the information you choose to provide to us directly, including the categories below.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name or display name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), and, where applicable, phone number and authentication identifiers from third-party sign-in providers.

Profile Information

You may add optional profile details such as a profile photo, biography, location or city, preferences, and links. Information added to your public profile may be visible to other users.

Identity Verification Information

If you choose to verify your identity, we collect camera images of an eligible government-issued identity document and a current selfie, together with the document type, country or region, submission status, reviewer decision, and limited capture-quality signals. The mobile app may check on your device whether document text or a machine-readable code is present and whether the selfie contains one face. Our current verification process does not create a biometric template, compare faces, or use facial recognition to establish identity. Verification documents and reviewer notes are not displayed publicly.

Identity verification is optional, and we collect and process identity documents and selfies only with your explicit consent, which you provide when you start a verification submission and may withdraw at any time before a decision is made. In some jurisdictions — including the Philippines, where government-issued identity documents are classified as sensitive personal information under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 — this information receives heightened protection, and consent is the legal basis on which we process it.

Professional and Ownership Credential Information

If you apply for a professional or ownership verification — such as a verified landlord/owner, broker, or building-admin status, or a claim to a property page — we collect the credential documents you submit (for example, a real-estate license, proof of ownership such as a title or tax record, or an authorization letter or board resolution), together with details extracted from them, such as the credential type, license or reference number, issuing jurisdiction, and expiry date. These documents are handled with the same private storage, restricted access, and retention practices as identity-verification documents. Your resulting verification status may be displayed publicly; the underlying documents are not.

Reviews and Ratings

We collect the reviews, ratings, scores, written feedback, and structured assessments you submit about properties, neighborhoods, or related experiences. Reviews and ratings are generally published publicly and associated with your display name. Where the option is available, you may choose to publish a review anonymously; anonymous reviews are displayed without your account identity, but they remain linked to your account in our systems for moderation, dispute-resolution, security, and legal purposes.

Uploaded Photos and Media

We collect photos, images, video, and other media you upload. Media files may contain metadata (such as EXIF data, including capture time and, in some cases, geolocation). We may strip, retain, or process such metadata as described in this Policy.

Property Information

We collect property-related details you submit or reference, such as addresses, building names, unit descriptors, amenities, and contextual notes used to associate your contributions with a property.

Communications

When you contact us, respond to surveys, report content, or participate in community features, we collect the contents of those communications and related metadata.

3.2Information Collected Automatically

Device Information

We collect information about the device you use to access the Platform, including device type, operating system and version, browser type, unique device or installation identifiers, language settings, and mobile network information.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the Platform, such as pages and listings viewed, searches performed, features used, referring/exit pages, timestamps, clickstream data, and interaction events.

Analytics Data

We collect aggregated and event-level analytics to understand performance, usage trends, and engagement, and to improve the Platform.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use cookies, SDKs, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where permitted) personalize content and advertising. See our Cookie Policy for details and choices.

Location Information

With your permission or based on technical signals (such as IP address), we may collect approximate or precise location information to deliver location-based discovery, recommendations, and relevant property insights. You can control device-level location permissions in your device or browser settings.

3.3Information From Third Parties

We may receive information from third-party sign-in providers, analytics and advertising partners, fraud-prevention services, and publicly available sources, consistent with their terms and applicable law.

4.How We Use Information

We use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • To review optional identity-verification submissions, prevent impersonation, and activate accurate trust status;
  • To operate, maintain, and provide the Platform’s reviews, ratings, discovery, and community features;

  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests;
  • To display advertising and measure its effectiveness (where permitted);
  • For other purposes disclosed to you with your consent.

6.Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your Personal Information in the traditional sense of exchanging it for money. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Publicly: Reviews, ratings, profile details you choose to make public, and uploaded media are displayed publicly and may be indexed by search engines.
  • Service providers (Processors): With vendors who host, operate, analyze, secure, or support the Platform under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

  • With your direction or consent: When you ask us to share information or otherwise consent.

A note on “sale” and “sharing” under U.S. laws

Certain disclosures to advertising or analytics partners using cookies may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California and other U.S. state laws. See Section 13 for your opt-out rights.

7.Third-Party Services

7.1Analytics Providers

We use analytics providers to understand usage and improve the Platform. These providers may set cookies or use identifiers. You can manage analytics through cookie controls and provider opt-outs described in our Cookie Policy.

7.2Advertising Providers

Where the Platform displays advertising, advertising partners may use cookies and identifiers to deliver and measure ads. You can manage advertising preferences through our cookie controls and industry opt-out tools described in the Cookie Policy.

7.3Third-Party Links

The Platform may link to third-party websites or services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review them.

8.Data Retention

We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Platform, maintaining the integrity of public reviews and ratings, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and abuse, and enforcing our agreements.

Retention periods vary by data type and context. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or aggregate it. Note that User Content you have published may remain visible after account closure where it has been incorporated into community insights, unless removal is required by law or our policies; you may request removal as described in Section 11. To delete your account and the Personal Information associated with it, follow the steps on our Data Deletion page.

Identity-document, selfie, and credential-evidence files are retained while a submission is pending and are scheduled for deletion 30 days after an approval, rejection, or resubmission decision, unless a longer period is required to resolve fraud, abuse, an appeal, or a legal obligation. We may retain the verification status, decision, timestamps, and audit record after the images are deleted so we can maintain platform integrity and demonstrate how a trust decision was made.

9.Security Measures

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These include encryption in transit, access controls, hashing of credentials, monitoring, and least-privilege practices.

Identity-verification images and credential-evidence documents are stored in private, non-public storage and are available only through authenticated administrator controls to personnel who need them for verification review, security, legal compliance, or support. Access and verification decisions are recorded for accountability.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

10.International Data Transfers

WeRentr. operates globally, and your information may be transferred to and Processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data-protection laws. Where we transfer Personal Data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum, adequacy decisions, or other legally recognized mechanisms.

11.Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your Personal Information, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to Processing, and to data portability. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details in Section 22. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. You can also download a copy of your data yourself at any time in the WeRentr. app under Profile › Account Settings › Manage Account › Download My Data, which prepares a portable file containing your profile, reviews, and other account data. To delete your account and personal data, see our Data Deletion page for step-by-step instructions.

We do not engage in solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without a lawful basis and appropriate safeguards.

Identity capture checks may flag missing text, machine-readable codes, or an invalid number of visible faces for administrator attention. These checks do not approve or reject identity verification. An authorized administrator makes the verification decision.
